Awards and Certificates Community Learning offers a range of short, vocationally relevant taught programmes leading to valuable qualifications, enabling you to progress into further learning or employment. European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS) which enables people to demonstrate competence in IT. As well as offering a flexible, roll-on-roll-off ECDL course, we also run ECDL Advanced Courses in Word Processing and PowerPoint, suitable for today’s computer “power user”. English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) will help you to improve your language skills for living and working in the UK. Our courses cover reading, writing, speaking and listening, grammar and vocabulary and we also run a 14 week UK Citizenship course. We offer courses at all levels at convenient times: morning, afternoon and evening. Our courses are available all year round. General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) GCSEs are highly valued by educational establishments and employers alike. The qualification mainly involves studying the theory of a subject, combined with some investigative work. Some subjects also involve practical work. Community Learning offers a number of these useful qualifications on a part time basis. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) NVQ qualifications are competence based meaning that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role. NVQs are offered in a number of subject areas and the flexible and vocational nature mean that benefit to the workplace is maximised. Skills for Life Skills for Life qualifications are designed to help anyone over 16 years old to develop or refresh the skills used in everyday life, such as reading, writing, maths or computing. We offer courses at a range of levels in Adult Literacy, Adult Numeracy and ICT. The courses are offered on a flexible, roll-on-roll-off basis. Our literacy and numeracy courses are free of charge. |
