Qualifications
Truro College Business Centre offer a variety of qualfications in a number of different subject areas. If you already know which qualification you would like to study please use the links below. To help you decide which qualification is best for you we have provided an overview below of the types of qualifications on offer. Please contact us to discuss any queries you may have and we will do our best to make sure you chose the right qualfication to suit your needs and to benefit you and your employer the most.
Apprenticeships
The Apprenticeship programme allows you to gain practical work experience as well as attaining valuable knowledge through the achievement of qualfications. Apprenticeships can help develop businesses by improving staff skills, improving profitability, reducing staff turnover and increasing staff morale. Those on the Apprenticeship scheme will gain a Technical Certificate, Key Skills Qualifications and an National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). Training and assessment of Apprenticeships is mostly undertaken in the workplace making the Apprenticeship option a flexible and practical way to train yourselg and / or your staff.
Business Skills Seminars
Business Skills Seminars are one day courses which are perfect for improving skills, knowledge and experience in a variety of subject areas. Each seminar is a self-contained, one-day event held on a Truro College Campus. They are held on weekdays and are particularly suited to busy individuals who are unable to commit to a long-term course. Delegates will also have a course material hand book to take away at the end of the day to keep for future reference.
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)
All NVQ's qualifications are competence based meaning that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role. NVQs are offered in a number of subject areas and the flexible and vocational nature mean that benefit to the workplace is maximised.
NCFE Certificate and Awards
These qualifications are suitable for a wide range of learners and the flexibility of the programme contributes to the successes of many learners. Assessment is through a workbook completed entirely in the workplace with the support of a dedicated tutor reducing the time needed away from the workplace and maximising the transfer of skills and knowledge attained into the working environment.
ILM Certificates and Awards
From pure management and leadership to specialised programmes in coaching and mentoring, our range of ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) qualifications have been carefully formulated to meet the varying learning and development needs of employers of all sizes and across all iondustries and sectors. In addition, every ILM qualification is practically based to ensure learning is transferred directly to the work environment – to the immediate benefit of employers and learners alike. To achieve one of the ILM qualifications you will be required to attend taught sessions, (normally one day per week) to gain new skills and knowledge, and to complete assessment tasks.
